PW: How did your article/book research go? What did you find? It wasn't that bad. It was difficult a little bit because Notre dame library doesn't have a lot of book that are related to the subject that I choose, which is on International terrorism, specifically ISIS. I found 3 different book that is in the Notre dame Library that talks about ISIS and Terrorism in United States. In general, it takes a lot of patience and deeper researches because it isn't just in front of your eyes.

PW: General Reflection on A Path Appears (+Essay 2-3) Should I use this book again? why or why not? Essay 2 focused on analyzing one picture of the book and relating it with the text. I really liked that essay because it made me more understand the deeper meaning of the photograph itself. Essay 3 focused on choosing one social or global issue. I was about to do my essay on poverty and malnutrition in Malawi but I was more interested in poverty in the United States. I talked about solutions we could do to fix the issue but at the same time the challenges that are there. I learned a lot about the issue and opened my mind wider. The first time I saw A Path Appear, I didn't want to read it at all. Making us read the three first stories gave us an idea of what we were expecting in the book. The book has a lot of little stories with issues and figuring out the solutions to them. I liked the idea how the authors have their opinion on them. I really liked the book a lot because ther...
Pw: On essay 3, what I did well was probably my researches and explaining the issue with good details, aw well as using my personal opinion. When I research about an subject that I want to learn more about, I go crazy online and read a lot about it. My essay is about poverty in the United States and I learned a lot of things that I was wasn't expected . I don't think I needed help, I used everything that I needed; the book (A Path Appear, sites/sources etc...) Hopefully, my essay will the reader interested.
PEER DRAFT (10/19) - Poverty in United States  In A Path Appears who’s author are Sheryl and Wedunn talk about many local and global Social Issues that are still there out there in the world and poverty in the United States is one of them. Poverty is an urgent challenge for the world. It is a persuasive human condition of being unable too obtain or provide a standard level of food, water and/or shelter. In the United States there are more than 47 million of Americans, around 15% who live below the poverty line. Many solutions have been discussed that could potentially decrease poverty but it seems like an unrealistic goal.  People looks up to the United States as the Land of Dream, as the perfect country but poverty stays an important issue: “ Impoverished Americans may own cars and watch television, but in the twenty-first century poverty remains a fundamental part of life in the United States and some other Western nations.” (pg. 46) Poverty has been in the United ...
PW: That said, in the spirit of dialogue, for your Practice Writting today please respond to my feeback on Essay 1 with any questions, comments, disagreements, concerns that I missed something or misinterpreted something. Post to blog or attach to this sheet. Just, a little recapt of what my essay is about. Its about the adventure of the english language through 4 different countries (United States, Singapore, Japan and France). I wanted to respond to one of your question which was: "Im curious just your mom?", well yes. My sister and dad can fluently speak english no problem because my dad works in an Amercian business industry and my sister watched Disney Channel her whole life. The TV show helped her pronouce words better than any of us in the house. Besides that, I'm very happy for my grade and will keep on working hard on my futur essays. Thankyou very much! - Sam
The Social issue that is important to me is, poverty in the United States. 2. Poverty is an urgent challenge for the world. Poverty is a persuasive human condition of being unable to obtain or provide a standard level of food, water and/or shelter. There is more than 43.1 million of Americans, around 13.5% live below the poverty line. Many solutions have been discussed but poverty seems like an unrealistic goal. I do believe that some solutions could potentially decrease poverty. Increasing employment is one way to reduce poverty. Money doesn't help poverty but giving jobs does. The poor need productive jobs that lead to higher income. Ending mass incarceration is a huge one because the United States holds almost one quarter of the world's prisoners. Now days, many employers refuse to hire people with even a minor criminal records, and many parolees are locked out of housing, credit and even education. One of the reason it's rate of poverty is high is because the over...
PW: Essay 2 was a little harder than Essay 1 but still very interesting. By "reading the picture" it made it clear that the picture was very powerful and sends an important message to the reader. In my opinion it was very smart to make us focus in-depth to understand more about the book itself and the story. Actually, I would be super interested to go to Malawi, meet Biti Rose and see with my own eye her improvements and her motivation to success.
Dear group, My draft talks about the story of Biti Rose Nasoni who is a thrifty-nine years old women farmer in the southern African nation of Malawi, on page 42-45. I have wrote how the photograph relates with the text. I think I did described the caption and the detailed imagery well but explaining the moment when it was taken was a little bit difficult because I know that it sends a message (which I explained) but I think it sends a stronger and more powerful message. Let me know what I can improve and/or what is wrong. I'll take any advices and comments.
P.W. The story in the book and the movie talks about a global movement for womens. The system wouldn't do anything about it. The movie is is mostly focused in Kenya where Kennedy Odede talks about his personal life living in poverty and young girls getting an education. Eventhough education is free, it is difficult for young girls to come to school because of no justice. For example this young girl at 4 years old got raped and the dad complained to the police and they were just ignorant. The country itself is very corrupt and there are no public service. I would relate the "local is global and the global is local" makes me think of the story of China Joe who used to be in the a gang called the Vicelords, because he after being a while in prison he accepted to get helped. In one of the things that he did is to protect a women and make violence less dramatic.
Choose one story from the first 200 pgs or so and connect it to a main argument that the authors make throughout the book.  Use 2-3 quotes from pgs. 100-202 to exemplify your story and/or the authors' overall argument.  2-3 paragraphs. MAIN STORY: On the Pg. 141-142, is the story of Martavia Lambert and Anthony Brown. A couple married for years where both have raised in the alongside drugs, gangs and violence. No one has ever steeped in to intervene. Martavia only five feet four inches has no match with Anthony who is 200 pounds. One night, Anthony threatened Lambert and in response, Lambert grabbed a knife and stabbed him into his chest. She was so horrified that she raced to the hospital where he died. Lambert got arrested with a first-degree murder.  "It was one of the three murders in Chicago that day, and it was reflective of the kind of inner-city violence that constitutes and enormous problems in America and other countries alike." pg.142 ...
