Choose one story from the first 200 pgs or so and connect it to a main argument that the authors make throughout the book.  Use 2-3 quotes from pgs. 100-202 to exemplify your story and/or the authors' overall argument.  2-3 paragraphs.

MAIN STORY: On the Pg. 141-142, is the story of Martavia Lambert and Anthony Brown. A couple married for years where both have raised in the alongside drugs, gangs and violence. No one has ever steeped in to intervene. Martavia only five feet four inches has no match with Anthony who is 200 pounds. One night, Anthony threatened Lambert and in response, Lambert grabbed a knife and stabbed him into his chest. She was so horrified that she raced to the hospital where he died. Lambert got arrested with a first-degree murder. 

"It was one of the three murders in Chicago that day, and it was reflective of the kind of inner-city violence that constitutes and enormous problems in America and other countries alike." pg.142

The story relates to a Dr. Gary Slutkin who formed Cure Violence, that helps to treat violence as an infectious disease. He hired outreach workers, meditators and then "violence interrupters" who could possibly stops an infection in it's track. One of the those who got hired as a violence interrupters was China Joe who's real name is John Lofton. He joined the Vice Lords (second largest oldest street gang in Chicago, Illinois with between 30,000 and 35,000) He got himself arrested many times, comitted robberies and got addicted to heroine while sampling the merchandise he stole. 

Cure violence reached out to him in 2005, when he was in a prison drug rehabilitation program. The judge took a huge risk and agreed to release him in the street to work with Cure Violence. 
China Joe says "I was tired of going through the same scenario, using drugs, robbing people" and that "it's time for me to something different." pg. 146

"Cure Violence staffs are also undertaking long-term effort at behavior change, encouraging alternatives to gangs and crime while discouraging any resorts of violence." pg. 148; is one of the author's argument on the amount of efforts that staffs need to do that are in the Cure Violence.
