The Homeland, Aztlan - El otro Mexico. Chpt 1
The main character write her whole book like a poem with couple sentences and then leaves spaces between each small paragraphs. While talking about Mexico, she also using Spanglish, a mix of English and Spanish. It’s probably to show to the reader who she really is and accept the fact that she uses Spanish when she can’t say a word in English. She also talked about the Border line, how it’s dividing Mexicans between a safe and non-safe place and the way they are treated and called. She also talks about how people are deported for trying to find a better place for themselves but they also tend to get caught before crossing the border. At the end of the chapter, goes deep into the history of Mexico, for example who invaded and what happened at that specific time. 

How To Tame a Wild Tongue. Chpt 5
When he teacher tried to pronounced her name, the main character got in the corner for correcting her own name in her mother tongue which is Spanish. At school, she had to learn the hard way, meaning “if you want to be American you got to got speak American”. She also goes in debt on her Spanish, like not having heard words that we use today in a conversation in Spanish, for example “nosotras” and the different Spanish languages that are out there. The main character explains that she uses her Spanish with family members such as her sister, brother and friends. An interesting point in this chapter is that, she tends us English and Spanish in same sentences. The rest of the summary talks about which Specific Spanish language and the culture of the language itself.
